Agent Of Death 'Drink 'Ogogoro', go to jail' - FG

Drinkers of 'Ogogoro' are in for a tough time as the Federal Government has banned its sale and consumption.


For those who cannot do without drinking the locally brewed illicit gin which go with different local appellations like 'Ogogoro', 'Kai Kai', and 'Sapele Water', the federal government of Nigeria has clamped down on its consumption due to the spate of deaths that has been recorded in different parts of the country.

The ban was announced by the Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drugs

Administration and Control NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii.

The FG has also banned the sale and consumption of adulterated and counterfeited hot drinks and bitters that has taken over the country, leading to deaths and ailments.
Recall that a few weeks ago, more than 25 people died after consuming local gin contaminated with ethanol in Ondo State while last weekend, more than 38 people reportedly died in Rivers State after drinking locally brewed 'Ogogoro'.
