Oshiomole accuses Jonathan of starving APC governors of funds during his administration


Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole, has accused former President Goodluck Jonathan of starving APC governors of funds while he was president. Oshiomhole said this while speaking with State House correspondents after the meeting with Buhari and state governors. He said Jonathan prevented APC governors from utilizing the N2 billion ecological fund;

Colombia legalizes same-sex marriage


A top court in Colombia has officially legalized same-sex marriage in the country. Same sex couples who were already allowed to form civil partnerships, are now permitted to get married just like other heterosexual couples.
 This new law places Colombia as the fourth country in Latin America to legalize same sex marriages. Argentina was the first Latin American country to take the step in July 2010 before Brazil and Uruguay followed suit.

Father beats his 17yr old son silly in boxing match as punishment for skipping school


An unnamed American father has come up with a form of 'discipline' most parents will be hesitant to apply. A video posted to Facebook shows the father challenging his teenage son to a fight after learning that the lad walked out of lessons without telling him. He then proceeds to pummel the precocious young man leaving him a bloody, sobbing mess. The video has gone viral garnering nearly 1.5million views.

Emmanuel Emenike blasts NFF- 'It's disrespectful to fix a Super Eagles match same day with Joseph Yobo's testimonial'


Ex-Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike who is on loan at West Ham has blasted the Nigeria Football Federation on its decision to organize a Super Eagles friendly the same day retired Super Eagles player will be celebrating his football career with a testimonial match in Port Harcourt.

Nigeria will play a friendly against Mali in France on May 27, the same day the Yobo testimonial will be played. Emenike said the NFF's decision was disrespectful to the former Eagles skipper and Everton defender, who had served the country with total dedication during his playing days.

"If we are still on the same page of re-branding football, we should have the common sense of celebrating our heroes so that the younger ones in the team will live by example,” Emenike told AfricanFootball

"Yobo deserves the honour and everybody has to turn up to celebrate him, but it’s unfortunate that it’s the NFF who are now looking like the obstacle to this testimonial. The Super Eagles players are the ones who want to play the Yobo match, tell me how will that be possible if they are in for another national assignment on that same day.

Elderly British Couple & their son attacked and beaten unconscious in Thailand by thugs over drink spillage


A British couple and their son were brutally attacked because one of them accidentally spilled a drink. The couple Lewis & Rosemary Owen and their 43-year-old son, John believed to be from Scotland were punched to the ground, kicked and battered as they tried to celebrate Thai New Year after a night out in the beach resort of Hua Hin - located 250km from the capital of Bangkok.

The fire crew of the Kansas City Fire Department couldn't resist taking an 'epic' photo when they were called by policemen of the Kansas City police department after 12 policemen got trapped in an elevator. A lot of fire fighters and policemen have been excited since the photo went viral with fire fighters claiming bragging rights of being the 'superior force'.

First Bank set to sack 1000 of its workers


First Bank of Nigeria is planning to sack at least 1000 of its staff. According to Bloomberg, the plan to cut jobs is as a result of the banks 82% loss in profit after its financial year ending for 2015. The bank also plans to focus less on providing loans to the oil industry as part of measures to increase its profit for the year 2016.

Tanker Fire Incident at a Filling Station in Ire, Osun State (Photos)


A tanker filled with Premium Motor Spirit caught fire some hours ago in Iree, Osun State. According to an eyewitness, a fuel tanker which contained 33,000 liters of petrol caught fire in the process of transferring the fuel from the tanker into the underground tank at a filling station – Amolek Nigeria Limited at Poly Junction. The tanker driver who noticed the fire first, alerted people and ran from the tanker. The fire reportedly raged on for hours and burnt ten nearby shops. Thankfully, no life was lost. Report: Odion Ighalo is Watford's third highest earner with £30,000 per week salary




According to a report by the Daily Sports UK, Nigeria's Odion Ighalo is the third highest earning player in Watford FC of England. The highest paid player in Watford is Mario Suarez, who earns about £45,000, while team captain Deeney Troy pockets £35,000 a week. Ighalo is third in the club's salary rankings with earnings of £30,000 weekly. Ighalo has scored 14 league goals this season.

A 38-year-old man in Kamunting, Taiping, Malaysia was arrested by police yesterday, April 28, for uploading a provocative Facebook posting that insulted Islam.

Perak police said the suspect, who hails from Kampung Stesen, Kuala Kangsar allegedly committed the offence on September 7, 2015. The suspect used a pseudonym when uploading the statements in social media, possibly aimed at sparking racial tension.

Nigerian-navy-declares-Charles Ekpemefumor wanted for alleged Hijack of MT MAXIMUM


The Nigerian Navy has declared a man named Mr. Charles Ekpemefumor (pictured) - Wanted for the hijack of a Vessel named MT Maximus. In a statement released on their official website, Ekpemefumor was accused of being the mastermind of the pirate attack and hijacking of the vessel. After several unsuccessful attempts to invite him over for questioning on the allegations made, the Nigerian Navy officially declared him wanted. The statement reads,

"The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to some stories going round the media circles with the title “Disquiet in the war front as soldiers complain of unpaid allowance” alleging that there was problem in the Nigerian Army due to non-payment of allowances to some soldiers serving in the North East.
