A Nigerian lady identified as Tonia Okojie (pictured above) was allegedly murdered by her boss in Russia. According to Nigeria Camera, Tonia, who worked as a maid in Russia, was allegedly beaten and tortured to death by the man she worked for. The reason for the attack is not yet known but there are reports that her continued rebuff of his sexual advances made him attack her. The case was reported to the Russian police but surprisingly instead of it being treated as a murder case, the police is treating it as a case of accidental death. According to Punch, there are strong indications that in fulfilment of his campaign promise to reduce the cost of governance, President Muhammadu Buhari may have concluded plans to slash his salary and reduce his personal emoluments. It was learnt that the President expected the Vice-President and other political appointees to take a similar decision.

A 25-year-old man, Tochukwu Madu, has set himself ablaze after a failed attempt to kill his mother with a cutlass.

The tragedy, which occurred on Wednesday, also led to the razing of their bungalow situated on No. 12 Bonny Street in Umuahia, Abia State.

Part of the building, located at the heart of the state capital, serves as stores for traders, who have converted the street to a mini-market after the relocation of the Umuahia Main Market from a nearby location to Ubani.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan Gets Nominated For Nobel Peace Award

Nigeria's former President, Goodluck Jonathan has been recommended for the Nobel Peace Prize by a public policy organisation on African affairs, the Africa Political & Economic Strategic Center (AFRIPOL).

Over 120 passengers, including the Director, Muslim Rights Concern, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, on Friday evening escaped death as an Aero Contractors Airline Flight 180 from Lagos to Kaduna developed technical fault mid-air.

The aircraft was said to have suddenly lost altitude, 20 minutes after it departed the domestic wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, forcing the aircraft to wobble in the air for over one hour before it was eventually diverted to Abuja.

Akintola, who broke the news to New Mail, said the flight took off from Lagos at exactly 6.30pm.

He said 20 minutes into the flight, the aircraft lost altitude and the passengers had to make use of the oxygen masks as the plane continued to wobble, while dropping steadily.

A massive fire outbreak happened early this morning, at about 1am around the Idimu axis of Ejigbo, Lagos state after a tanker fully loaded with fuel, sources are not sure if it was diesel or petrol. exploded. The tanker reportedly ran into a building resulting in burning of several houses and properties. Thankfully, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal and State fire services have arrived the scene. See more pics below...

Men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have arrested 46 year old businessman Tochukwu Prosper Nzom who inserted 225gm of cocaine into his anus while preparing to board an Air France flight to Paris from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport yesterday June 4th.

According to a statement by the spokesperson of NDLEA, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, two other drug traffickers, identified as Idehen Prince Henry and Ilemena Chinedu Peter were also arrested with 915 grammes and 1.225kg of cocaine as they arrived Nigeria from Brazil on an Emirates flight.

Fuel scarcity to end on or before June 13 - Oil Marketers

Nigerian Oil marketers say the lingering fuel scarcity nationwide will come to an end on or before the 13th of this month. Addressing newsmen after a meeting with the federal government today, the oil marketers said the traffic gridlock at the Oshodi-Apapa express is largely responsible for the scarcity as over 3000 tankers are towing to collect fuel from the Lagos depot to distribute to other parts of the country. They say they will be working with the Lagos state government to effectively manage the traffic so tanker drivers can quickly pick up fuel for distribution.

Tragic last photos of 7yr old Shanay, running barefoot to a shop looking for water - just hours before she was killed by her aunt

Desperate and thirsty, 7 year old Shanay Walker was captured on CCTV cameras asking a shopkeeper for something to drink just hours before she was found dead at her home. The footage shows her running barefoot into a corner shop the night before her frail bruised body was discovered at the home of her aunt and grandmother.

The child was subjected to months of violent punishment by her 'strict' churchgoing aunt and suffered a 'sustained, vicious and brutal beating' before she died, a jury heard.
