CAN Begs Osun Churches To Donate Food, Money To Workers Due To Unpaid Salaries

The Christian Association of Nigeria has appealed to church leaders in Osun State to rally food aid and money to assist Osun State civil servants who are going through hardship because of the delay in the payment of their salaries for the past seven months.

Terrorists Attempt to Blow up Ancient Egyptian Temples And Pyramids

Egyptian officials say a suicide bomber has blown himself up at the ancient temple of Karnak in Luxor, a southern city frequented by millions of foreign and Egyptian tourists every year.

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El Rufai has reduced the number of ministries in the state from 19 to 13. The downsizing in the number of ministries was contained in a statement released by his media aide, Samaila Aruwan today June 9th According to the statement, the reduction is being carried out to cut the cost of running the various ministries.

Nine male illegal immigrants were arrested after gang members cut holes in the side of the lorry before leaping free from the truck while it was heading towards a stop and search chekpoint at the lights on the A429 Stow Road near Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds.

Man accuses AIG Joseph Mbu of torture, threat to life

Alhaji Suleiman Yerima, a Lagos-based foreign exchange dealer has accused the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Lagos, Joseph Mbu, of directing policemen to torture him over a forex deal that went wrong. The businessman said Mbu directed policemen from Zone 2 to torture him and one of the ways they tortured him was to dip his face into a bucket of water, a form of torture known as 'water-boarding', used to extract confessions from terrorists. The man who has petitioned president Buhari said he was detained for 80 days by the police after he and a friend were picked up by the EFCC.

Woman accuses 4 policemen of torturing her over stolen iPad

Four policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Command have been accused by a trader at Balogun Market in Lagos, Karamat Eleha, of torturing her over false claims that she stole an iPad at the Idumagbo area in Lagos state on May 14th.

According to Punch, the police said a woman who lives in the Lekki axis in Lagos had laid a complaint to the police that she was robbed of her iPad and other belongings. The police officers took their search to Idumagbo Lagos Island where Karamat and her mother lived in a two storey building.

When they arrived, karamat was not at home as she was said to have gone for a fellowship close to her house.

The family crisis tearing apart Emmanuel Adebayor’s family has turned out to be a source of sadness for the Tottenham Hotspur player’s relations and kinsmen in Igbaye, Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State. The kinsmen in Adebayor’s hometown spoke to PUNCH on the burning issue.
